What must I take along on my rafting adventure?

Once you have booked your rafting trip with Adventure Rafting, it's decision time as to what you should and shouldn't bring along. Let's run through the list.

CAMPING EQUIPMENT

Adventure Rafting supplies a tent, groundsheet and mattress, so you are covered for those. You do however need to bring a head lamp, a fold up camping chair, a pillow and a sleeping bag.

RAFTING EQUIPMENT

Adventure Rafting supplies all the rafting equipment, namely the inflatable 2-man raft, a cooler box with ice for keeping your water, drinks, and snacks cold. We also supply you with a helmet, personal flotation device (life jacket), a paddle, and a dry bag for your clothing and items you need to keep dry.

PHONES AND CAMERAS

You can bring your phone and cameras along, but please also bring a small waterproof bag along to keep them in. There is no WiFi or cellphone coverage along the river, nor any electricity, so please ensure you charge your phone and camera batteries fully at the basecamp, before the rafting commences.

TOILETERIES

It's important to bring your own soap, facecloth, shampoo, conditioner, toilet paper, a small mirror, UV lip balm, toothpaste, toothbrush, floss, deodorant, moisturizer, sunscreen SPF30-50, a small waterproof bag for the toileteries, and whatever else you feel necessary.

SNACKS AND DRINKS

Please bring your own supply of drinking water. We normally suggest at least 2-3 litres per person per per day. It's better to bring water in 1.5 litre bottles. You can also bring cooldrinks, energy drinks, beers, wine and any other alcoholuc beverages. For snacks, you can bring chips, peanuts or nuts, chocolates, sweets, biltong and whatever else you want to consume on the trip. Please note that NO GLASS is allowed on the river, as it can injure you or others if it breaks. All packaging needs to be in tins or plastic containers only.

CLOTHING

Please bring along around 3 changes of clothing on the river, as well as a broad rimmed hat, sunglasses, a sarong to cover your legs, a swimming costume, a light long sleeved shirt to protect your arms from sunburn, aqua-shoes or booties, slops or sandles, a waterproof jacket in case of rain, a black plastic bag, a light towel, and a fleece top and long tracksuit pants for the evenings, as it can get cool at night throughout the year.

Adventure Rafting will send you detailed information on the trip, which also covers everything you need to bring along, so don't stress! It's important not to bring too much stuff along on the river, as whatever you bring along travels with you on the raft!

SENSE OF HUMOUR

This is most important, so please make sure you bring your sense of humour with you on the trip, as everyone is going to have a blast!
